Set up your maintenance schedule and reminders
Add tasks by hand or from templates, set a frequency in months so they repeat, and get a reminder before each due date. How complete, snooze, and skip work.
On this page
The Maintenance page holds every task for the active home. Each task has a due date, an optional frequency in months, and a reminder that fires a set number of days before it is due. Complete a recurring task and the next one is scheduled automatically. Everything below happens on the Maintenance page in the sidebar under Care & Upkeep.
What is already there
If you finished onboarding or claimed a home from a builder, a starter plan is waiting: tasks matched to the systems the home has, with first due dates spread over the next six months. Treat it as a draft. Edit the frequencies to match your equipment's manual, delete what does not apply, and add what is missing.
Add a task by hand
- Click "Add Task".
- Fill in Task Title (for example, "Replace HVAC filter"), an optional Description, and a Priority (Low, Medium, High, or Urgent).
- Set Frequency (months). Enter 3 for a quarterly task, 12 for a yearly one, 1 for monthly. Leave it blank for a one-time task.
- Set Next Due Date and, if you like, Assigned To.
- Click "Add Task". You will see "Task added".
The reminder defaults to 7 days before the due date. To change it, open the task, click Edit, and set Reminder (days before) anywhere from 0 to 90.
Add tasks from templates
Click "Add from Templates". The templates are grouped by HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Roofing, Appliances, Exterior, Interior, and Safety. Tick the ones that apply and confirm; you will see how many tasks were added. Templates come with sensible frequencies, and each one links to the matching guide, for instance how often to change the filter or when to test the detectors.
The Seasonal Checklist page offers the same templates as season packs; using the seasonal checklist explains the difference.
Complete, snooze, skip
Every task card has Complete, Snooze, Skip, Edit, and Delete.
- Complete opens a short form: Completed Date, Cost, Completed By, and Notes. Click "Mark Complete". A recurring task shows "Task completed and rescheduled" and reappears under Upcoming with its next due date; the entry you just made is kept in the task's Completion History.
- Snooze pushes the due date by a preset: Tomorrow, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, or 1 month.
- Skip marks this occurrence skipped and, for a recurring task, schedules the next one.
- Delete removes the task and its whole history. There is no undo.
Use the filters (All, Upcoming, Overdue, Completed, Skipped) and the search box to find things. The stat cards at the top show what is overdue and what is due this month.
Where the reminders go
Reminders appear in the in-app notification bell. The toggles on the Notifications settings page (Maintenance Due and Overdue Alerts, both on by default) control whether they fire; notification settings covers the rest.
What to do next
Open each task in the starter plan once and check the frequency against the equipment's manual; the manual wins. Then add a "Test smoke and CO alarms" task at 1 month if it is not there. The Home Care Plan page shows the next ten tasks as a summary, which is a good weekly glance.
