The Documents page (Records & Value in the sidebar) is where every piece of paper about the house goes: closing documents, manuals, warranties, receipts, permits, insurance policies. Each document has a type and can carry a file, notes, and an expiry date. Expiry dates are what turn a static folder into reminders: documents expiring within 30 days show on the page's Expiring Soon card, and warranty documents feed the Warranty Dashboard.

Add a document

  1. Click "Add Document".
  2. Enter a Title, such as "Home Insurance Policy 2026".
  3. Choose a Document Type: Warranty, Contract, Insurance, Inspection, Receipt, Permit, Deed, Tax, Closing, or Other.
  4. Drag a file onto the upload area or click to browse. Accepted types are PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, TXT, MP4, MOV, and WEBM, up to 50 MB. The file is optional; a document can be a record with no file attached.
  5. Add Notes and an Expiry Date if the document has one (a policy renewal, a warranty end, a permit expiry).
  6. Click "Add Document". You will see "Document added".

Scan a receipt

Click "Scan Receipt" and upload a photo or PDF of the receipt (JPG, PNG, WebP, or PDF up to 10 MB). The app reads it, then shows "Review Scan Results" with a suggested Document Title and Notes for you to check and edit. Save it and the receipt is filed as a Receipt document. Do this at the store or in the driveway, before the paper is lost.

Find and manage documents

  • Use the filter buttons across the top (All, then each type) to narrow the list.
  • There is no search box on the Documents page itself. Use the Global Search in the header ("Search properties, tasks, projects...") to find a document by title.
  • Each document has View file (opens the file through a link that works for one hour), Edit document (title, type, notes, expiry date), and Delete document. Deleting cannot be undone.
  • The stat cards show Total Documents, Expiring Soon, Expired, and Most Common type.

What to file first

If you have just closed on a home, the documents worth keeping from closing day is the list. Type them as Closing, Deed, Insurance, and Warranty, and give every warranty its end date. If you have just claimed a builder home, the builder's uploads are already here; check each one's type and add expiry dates where the builder did not.

What to do next

Add an Expiry Date to every warranty and policy; tracking warranties shows how those dates surface on the Warranty Dashboard and what to do when one is about to end. For a full backup, the Data Export page can download every document as one ZIP.
